When recovering from a breakup, emotions are quite difficult for many people to understand. This is because many emotions and feelings are very personal issues, ones which are not often discussed. So, it is easy to see how a great number of people can be confused about their feelings for their exes. In fact, it is not unusual for someone to wonder, “do I still love my ex,” –even for months or years after the relationship has ended.

Figuring out your feelings for your ex can help you to move on to new and more successful relationships. Any unresolved emotions dealing with your ex could actually impact your future relationships–and not in a good way. Once you figure out whether or not you still love your ex, you will be able to deal with the issue and then move on from there.

How can you determine what your feelings are for your ex? Take a look at the following questions and think about your answers. Your answers will tell you what you feel for your ex.

• Do you feel a strong desire to see your ex?

If you still love your ex, you likely want to see your ex or talk to your ex on the phone quite often. Perhaps you have called your ex’s voice mail just to hear his or her voice, or maybe you have driven by your ex’s house or place of work in hopes of seeing him or her outside. Or, you may have “accidentally” bumped into your ex at a restaurant or bar.

• How often do you think about your ex?

If you still love your ex, chances are he or she is on your mind constantly. Whenever a love song comes on the radio or whenever you happen to see a romantic scene on the television or in the movies, you immediately think of your ex. When something interesting or upsetting happens in your life, the first person you think to call is your ex.

• How does it feel to think about your ex being with someone else?

If you are still in love with your ex, the thought of him or her being with someone else probably makes you feel very jealous. The very idea of it might make you feel sick inside, or it may make you feel angry at the other person. You may even feel possessive, as if the other person is on your turf, stealing ‘your’ ex.

Have you figured out how you feel about your ex? Did you decide that yes, I still love my ex? It wouldn’t be surprising–most people who wonder about their feelings for their exes do still have some strings attached which need to be addressed.

You need to make a decision–do you want to get back together with your ex or do you want to get over your ex? Think about this carefully, and then do a search for more information on whichever option you choose.

Do You Really Want Your Girlfriend Back?Breaking up is something that is incredibly hard to do. Eventually, people move on and go on to new relationships and new adventures, instead of getting over a break up. Sometimes, someone who was in the relationship wants to get back together. It can be confusing to understand what to do when your ex girlfriend wanting to get back together. If you follow a few simple steps and tips, however, you can be sure to handle the situation correctly.

Ask for Space

The first thing that you need to do is ask for space. Do so gently, and with the understanding that you are taking this time to think about what she is saying. You need to make sure that you are not smothered. You want to make the right decision. Her emotions are running high, and they may skew your thoughts positively or negatively. Simply ask for some space. If possible, give her a timeline. This will help her to understand how much space you need.

Take Your Mind Off of It

After you are approached, you need to take your mind off of the entire situation. You may feel a rush of emotion when she asks you back. Take a day to take your mind off of the issue so that you can approach the idea with a clear head. Hang out with friends and do things that you enjoy doing. This should help you to take your mind off of the situation.

Consider Your Situation

When you are able to start thinking about getting back together, think about your current situation. Could you handle a girlfriend again? Would you be willing to give a few things up to have that relationship again? If you think that your situation would not be good for a relationship, and you are not willing to change, you may not be ready.

Think About Why You Broke Up

Finally think about why you broke up. Was it your idea or hers? Was it something that she did, or something that you did? If it is something that is changeable or fixable, are you willing to do the work, or give it another chance? This should also help you to decide whether or not you want to get back together.

In Short

It is important to think about yourself in this situation. While you may have your ex girlfriend wanting to get back together, you need to do the right thing for you. Ask for some space when she first approaches you, that’s another way to do it when you’re getting over a break up! Do so in a way that helps her to understand that you need time to think, and that you need some space to do so. From that point, take your mind off of it. You want to think clearly. When you are ready to do so, think about your situation, and why you broke up. This should help you to understand what you want to do.
